Dymet manufactures parts using most soft magnetic materials such as pure iron, iron-phosphorous, iron-silicon, and high nickel iron. These materials yield the desirable magnetic properties of high permeability and saturation as well as low residual induction and coercive force. The magnetic properties are enhanced using the proper sintering atmosphere. Dymet uses both nitrogen and hydrogen from liquid, either separate or mixed, to yield the best possible magnetic properties.

Powder metal parts are popular because soft magnetic wrought materials are difficult to shape and therefore have limited shapes. Powder metal parts are easily formed into the desired net shapes and consequently offer a great variety of configurations.

Soft magnetic applications include components of audio and video equipment, automotive braking systems, motor pole pieces, relays, circuit breakers and various sensor applications. Solenoids are an application that is ideal for powder metal. Parts can easily be welded to form a more complex assembly of powder metal components. Dymet has made magnetic parts so small they need to be picked up with tweezers and as large as a postcard.
